Performer Profile – Jim Six
Jim Six is performing tonight, 2/5/11, and here is a little bit about Jim taken from his website.
Jim Six was a full-time, professional musician for more than 10 years.
He studied songwriting the hard way, by serving stints as an award-winning broadcast journalist, a car rental agent, a debt collector, an insurance salesman, a store manager, a political campaign director, an advertising and public relations specialist, a corporate president, a radio operator and cook in the Army, a drug program coordinator and a community organizer.
The singer/songwriter worked with performers such as Tammy Wynette, Mel Tillis, The Oak Ridge Boys, Tom Rush, David Amram, Eric Anderson, Livingston Taylor, John Denver, Emmy Lou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Asleep At The Wheel, New Grass Revival, Jim Post, Mary McCaslin, Jim Ringer, Ola Belle Reed, the Star-Spangled Washboard Band, Penn & Teller and Patti Smith.
He performed extensively back then in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as in New York, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Nashville, Atlanta and Berlin, Germany.
He started out as a solo artist/writer.
Eventually, he formed a trio called Jim Six & City Limits — him on guitar, a steel guitar player and a bass player. Then, a drummer was added. Then a girl singer. Then another guitar player…and a manager…and an agent.
It was about then, in 1983, that Jim decided to call it quits. He hung up the guitar.
And didn’t really touch it again for almost 23 years.
During those years, he returned to an earlier career as a journalist and has been with the Gloucester County Times in Woodbury, NJ since 1984. He has written a feature column since 1985 and for almost 17 years covered police, fire, medical and military services. He is now managing editor of South Jersey Online (http://www.nj.com/south).
Now he’s back, writing songs and playing and singing better than ever.

John Faye Did It Up
Last night John Faye played to a packed house. There is always a good turn out whenever we have John come and play but last night he brought out some friends and members of his band IKE. We had a solo acoustic set by John and a solo set by IKE bassist Suzie Steen with help from Bret Tally on Bass. Then more John and Brittany Rotundo. And as if that wasn’t enough John finished the night doing a set of IKE classics with IKE guitarist Brett Talley. Great Night of Music! Thanks John!

Tonight Ray Steven Kraft
Tonight Coffee Works presents Ray Steven Kraft. Ray is a regular attendee of our Open Mic Night and tonight he will be playing his original music and select cover tunes for you all. Come on out tonight and support live local music with Ray Steven Kraft.
