All About The Coffee

Our roaster Tim has been firing on all cylinders to continue bringing you the best coffee you’ve ever had.  Sumatra is in stock, along with an amazing organic Panama varietal.  Our ever popular African coffees have been exceptional this season including Tanzanian Peaberry, Ethiopian Harrar and Yrgacheffe. And we always have numerous varieties of decaf that taste nothing like the decaf you’ve had in the past (unless you’ve had it here).

We have new blackboards around the cafe that tell you in bright and bold words what coffees we have by the pound, what we’re roasting, when we’re roasting it, and where it’s from.  How much more information could you ask for?

Starting in a few weeks we will be hosting classes where our ever-present roaster Tim will teach the finer points of coffee tasting (think wine tasting but with less hangover and more spitting).  We will soon have a section designated for single cup brewing where you will be able to try any coffee we have roasted in numerous ways, including pour over’s and French press style.

More detail to follow!

Poetry Open Mic at VTC

Are you a poet or a writer of short stories? Are you looking for a comfortable place to share your work? Do you like reading and listening to poetry, but aren’t a fan of writing it yourself? Do you hang out in coffee shops and enjoy freshly brewed coffee? Do you often dress in black, wear dark glasses, and play bongos?

If you said yes to any of these, then our Poetry Open Mic Night is the place for you!

Coffee Works at VTC is going to be hosting an open mic for all of our local poets and writers, Those who sign up will be given four minutes of airtime, and you can share any original work that you can read within that time limit, from short stories to poetry to song lyrics.

The event will take place at the Voorhees Town Center location on Friday, October 7th from 7 to 9pm. There will be a sign up sheet at the door, so get there early to sign up!

Just a note, we don’t want to limit creativity or expression, but please use discretion with what you share. A rule of thumb is if you think you might offend someone, you probably will. If you aren’t sure if your work is acceptable, bring it with you to VTC and ask to speak to Heather about it.

If you would like to know more, come in to the shop and ask to speak to Zac or Heather. We look forward to seeing who turns out, and if there is enough interest we might make this a monthly event!

by Lenny Manzo
